MobiKwik was founded in 2009 by Bipin Preet Singh and Upasana Taku. It initially operated as a mobile wallet that allowed users to store money digitally and make payments. The company has since developed into a broader fintech platform. Consumers can use MobiKwik for wallet payments, UPI and other payment services and can access financial products such as credit, fixed deposits, mutual funds and digital gold. On the merchant side, it provides products including QR payments, Soundbox devices and payment terminals. MobiKwik also owns Zaakpay, its payment-gateway business. The company connects consumers and merchants through a two-sided payments network and earns additional income by distributing financial products. One MobiKwik Systems Limited became a publicly listed company in India, while the MobiKwik brand remains its main consumer-facing platform.
