Postman at a glance
Postman began as a side project created by Abhinav Asthana to make testing APIs easier. The first version of the product appeared in 2012 and quickly became popular with software developers. As usage grew, Asthana joined with former colleagues Ankit Sobti and Abhijit Kane to turn the project into a company. Postman Inc. was launched in 2014, which is the founding year used here for the business. Today, Postman provides a platform for designing, testing, documenting, monitoring and collaborating on APIs. Developers can create collections of API requests, share work with teams and manage different parts of the API lifecycle from one environment. The company was founded in Bengaluru and later established its headquarters in San Francisco while maintaining a significant presence in India and serving developers worldwide.
