Company overview

Amazon India at a glance

Amazon India is Amazon's consumer business in India, centred on the Amazon.in marketplace. Amazon.in is operated by Amazon Seller Services Private Limited, an affiliate of Amazon.com, Inc., and connects Indian consumers with third-party sellers through its website and mobile app.

Marketplace and seller services

Amazon.in launched on 5 June 2013 with around 100 sellers, initially focused on books and other media products. The marketplace has since expanded across a broad range of consumer categories. Amazon also provides seller services including Fulfilment by Amazon, warehousing, shipping, marketplace tools and programmes designed to help businesses sell to customers across India.

Shopping and fulfilment network

Amazon India's consumer operations combine the online marketplace with fulfilment centres, delivery infrastructure, Prime-related shopping benefits and newer services such as Amazon Now for rapid delivery in selected markets. The India consumer business is part of Amazon's wider international stores organisation, while other Amazon businesses in India, including AWS, operate through their own structures.
