Digit Insurance was founded by Kamesh Goyal in 2016. It is operated by Go Digit General Insurance Limited, a publicly listed Indian insurance company. Digit uses technology to simplify the way customers and partners purchase and manage insurance policies. Its product range includes motor, health, travel, property, marine, liability and other non-life insurance products. Policies are distributed directly as well as through insurance intermediaries, digital platforms and other partners. Technology is used in areas such as policy issuance, claims processing, customer service and product design. Unlike insurance marketplaces that mainly distribute products made by other insurers, Digit is itself a licensed insurance underwriter and therefore takes insurance risk on its balance sheet. The wider Digit group has also developed businesses beyond general insurance as it builds a broader insurance platform.
