Krutrim was founded by Bhavish Aggarwal in 2023 as an artificial-intelligence company focused on building technology from India. The company began developing large language models designed to understand Indian languages and local use cases. Its ambitions extend beyond a consumer AI assistant. Krutrim is building a wider AI technology stack that includes models, cloud computing, data-centre infrastructure and silicon or computing-related technologies. This approach is intended to give businesses and developers access to the infrastructure required to build and run AI applications. Krutrim sits separately from Aggarwal's Ola mobility and Ola Electric businesses, although all were founded or promoted by him. Krutrim SI Designs Private Limited, the core company behind the venture, was incorporated in April 2023. The business therefore combines AI software with increasingly large investments in computing infrastructure.
