Upstox began its journey in 2009 as RKSV Securities. The business was created to make stock-market participation simpler and less expensive for Indian investors. It received its trading licence in 2010 and later entered the retail trading market. The company eventually adopted the Upstox brand as its consumer-facing identity. Customers use its mobile and web platforms to invest in stocks, mutual funds and IPOs and to trade derivatives, currencies and commodities. Upstox has also expanded beyond active trading into longer-term investing and wealth-related products. Its business is mainly digital, with technology replacing much of the branch and relationship-manager infrastructure used by traditional brokers. Historical company material identifies Ravi Kumar, Raghu Kumar, Shrini Viswanath and Kavitha Subramanian as members of the founding group.
