Zerodha at a glance
Zerodha was founded by brothers Nithin Kamath and Nikhil Kamath and began operations on 15 August 2010. The company helped popularise discount broking in India by offering a low-cost, online-first alternative to traditional brokerage firms. Customers can use Zerodha's platforms to invest or trade in equities, derivatives, commodities, mutual funds, bonds and other market products. Its main technology products include Kite for trading, Coin for direct mutual funds and Console for reporting and account information. Zerodha has built most of its core technology internally and operates without a traditional branch-heavy distribution model. It also runs Varsity, an educational platform for investors, and TradingQ&A, a community forum. Through Rainmatter, Zerodha also invests in businesses connected with financial services, health and sustainability.
