Rapido at a glance
Rapido is a ride-hailing marketplace. A passenger requests a ride through the app and the platform matches the request with a nearby driver, called a Captain. Rapido first became known for bike taxis, where customers travel as a passenger on a driver's motorcycle. Bikes can be cheaper for short trips and easier to move through congested roads than cars. The company later expanded into auto-rickshaw and cab services, putting it into broader competition with traditional ride-hailing platforms. Rapido was founded in 2015 by Rishikesh S R, Pavan Guntupalli and Aravind Sanka. Its role is mainly to provide the technology, demand and payment infrastructure that connects independent drivers with passengers rather than owning the vehicles used for most rides.
