Pavan Guntupalli

Pavan Guntupalli is a co-founder of Rapido, the Indian bike-taxi and urban-mobility platform.

Journey

Guntupalli studied electronics and communications engineering at IIT Kharagpur and worked in technology and analytics roles. Before Rapido, he was involved in an intercity logistics venture with Aravind Sanka. That business exposed the founders to fleet utilisation, routing and the fragmented nature of Indian transport, even though the model did not become their durable venture.

Guntupalli, Sanka and Rishikesh S R launched Rapido in 2015. They saw motorbikes as an underused urban asset and designed a marketplace that matched riders with independent captains. Rapido expanded beyond bike taxis into autos and cabs, while building payments, safety and driver-management systems. The official company page continues to identify Guntupalli as one of the three founders.

Working approach

His experience suggests a data and operations orientation. The transition from intercity logistics to passenger mobility was a practical response to a market with higher trip frequency and clearer consumer demand.

Assessment

Guntupalli helped shape Rapido's supply and marketplace model. Its success depends on regulatory durability, captain earnings and service quality across several vehicle categories rather than growth in downloads alone.
