Razorpay at a glance
Razorpay provides the technology businesses need to accept and manage digital payments. An online merchant can integrate Razorpay into its website or app and accept payments through methods such as cards, UPI and net banking without separately building connections with every payment provider. Razorpay started as a payment gateway but has expanded into a broader business-finance platform with products for payment collection, payouts and other financial operations. In simple terms, consumers often use Razorpay without noticing it: the merchant is Razorpay's customer, while Razorpay's technology processes the payment in the background. Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar founded the company in 2014. By 2024, Razorpay said it was supporting millions of businesses and processing an annualised total payment volume of about $180 billion.
