Tata Sons Private Limited is the principal investment holding company and promoter of Tata group companies. It holds investments in major Tata businesses operating across technology, automotive, steel, consumer and retail, financial services, infrastructure, energy, aerospace, tourism and other sectors. Tata operating companies are separately managed businesses with their own boards, while Tata Sons provides group-level ownership, capital allocation and strategic oversight. It has also incubated and invested in newer businesses in areas including electronics, digital commerce, aviation and battery manufacturing. Approximately 66% of Tata Sons' equity share capital is held by philanthropic Tata trusts. The company sits at the centre of the ownership structure of the wider Tata group.
