Kaivalya Vohra

Kaivalya Vohra is the co-founder and President of Technology and Product at Zepto. He is responsible for major parts of the technology and product systems behind the company’s quick-commerce operations.

Journey

Vohra grew up in Dubai and studied subjects including mathematics, further mathematics, physics and computer science at Dubai College. He later enrolled in Stanford University’s computer science programme. He and Aadit Palicha, a childhood friend, chose to leave the programme while building a grocery-delivery business in India during the Covid-19 period.

The pair first created KiranaKart in 2020. It connected orders to local grocery stores, but the model made it difficult to control stock availability, packing and delivery times. The experience helped them conclude that a fast and dependable service required direct control over inventory and fulfilment. They replaced the partner-store model with a network of small local warehouses and launched Zepto in 2021.

Vohra’s role has centred on the systems that make this model work. These include the customer product, inventory visibility, order allocation, fulfilment processes and the technology used to manage local delivery. As Zepto expanded, the operating problem became more complex because speed had to be maintained across a growing catalogue and network of fulfilment centres.

Working approach

His career illustrates a product-led form of entrepreneurship: test a model, identify where the user promise breaks, and redesign the underlying system. The founders’ first approach did not become a durable business, but it supplied the operational learning used to create Zepto.

Assessment

Vohra is less publicly visible than Palicha, but his role is central to Zepto’s proposition. The company’s long-term performance depends on whether its technology and product systems can deliver accuracy and reliability at scale, not simply short delivery times.
