Peyush Bansal

Peyush Bansal is the co-founder, chairman, managing director and chief executive officer of Lenskart.

Journey

Bansal studied electrical engineering at McGill University and worked at Microsoft in the United States. After returning to India, he created SearchMyCampus, a student classifieds venture, and tested other online retail ideas. Flyrr, an eyewear site aimed at the US market, and the separate WatchKart, BagsKart and JewelsKart categories were closed as he concentrated resources on eyewear.

He started Lenskart under Valyoo Technologies in 2010 with Amit Chaudhary; Neha Bansal and Sumeet Kapahi became part of the founding team. The company began online, then built stores, eye-testing capability, supply systems and manufacturing. It expanded internationally and listed in India in 2025. Lenskart's official page identifies Bansal as chairman, MD and CEO.

Working approach

Bansal emphasises customer feedback, affordability and repeated experimentation. Closing adjacent commerce sites was an important focus decision, while physical stores showed that an online founder could change the model when eye care required trust and fitting.

Assessment

He helped create an integrated eyewear retailer rather than a simple marketplace. The next test is managing international expansion, store economics and product quality while retaining the accessibility that supported early growth.
