Raghav Chandra

Raghav Chandra is the co-founder, executive director and chief technology and product officer of Urban Company.

Journey

Chandra studied computer science at the University of California, Berkeley and worked in technology roles associated with consumer internet companies including Twitter and Yelp. He later built Buggy, an auto-rickshaw aggregation idea. The venture did not become a lasting company, but it gave him experience with local marketplaces and supply behaviour.

He joined Abhiraj Bhal and Varun Khaitan in 2014 to create UrbanClap, later renamed Urban Company. Chandra led the product and technology systems used to match customers with professionals, schedule jobs, collect payments, manage quality and support training. The platform later expanded into appliances and other products alongside services. Its 2025 listing formalised Chandra's role as an executive director and senior product-and-technology leader.

Working approach

Chandra's work treats operations as a product problem. Marketplace software has to reflect what happens inside a customer's home, so ratings, repeat use, partner availability and service protocols are connected rather than separate features.

Assessment

His contribution is the digital system behind a physically delivered service. The key test is whether automation and data improve quality and fairness for both customers and professionals as the company adds categories and markets.
