Bajaj Auto traces its corporate history to 29 November 1945, when Bachhraj Trading Corporation Private Limited was established as the business that later became Bajaj Auto. It initially imported and sold two- and three-wheelers before receiving a manufacturing licence in 1959. The company was renamed Bajaj Auto in 1960. Over time, it became a major Indian motorcycle and three-wheeler manufacturer. Its motorcycle portfolio includes brands such as Pulsar, Dominar and Platina, while Chetak has been revived as an electric-scooter brand. Bajaj Auto is also a major exporter and sells vehicles in markets across Latin America, Africa, Asia and other regions. It has important strategic relationships with motorcycle brands such as KTM and Triumph. The company forms part of the larger Bajaj business group founded by Jamnalal Bajaj.
