Hero MotoCorp at a glance
Hero MotoCorp was incorporated in January 1984 as Hero Honda Motors Limited through a joint venture between India's Hero Group and Honda Motor Company of Japan. The Hero side of the venture was led by entrepreneur Brijmohan Lall Munjal. The company began manufacturing motorcycles at Dharuhera and became one of the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturers by volume. Products such as the Splendor helped build a large customer base in India. Hero and Honda ended their joint venture in 2011, after which the company adopted the Hero MotoCorp name and developed products independently. Its portfolio now includes commuter motorcycles, premium motorcycles, scooters and electric vehicles under the VIDA brand. Hero MotoCorp manufactures in India and other countries and sells vehicles across a wide international distribution network.
