Skyroot Aerospace at a glance
Skyroot Aerospace builds rockets that carry satellites into space. Satellite companies and other customers need a launch vehicle to take their payload from Earth into the required orbit, and Skyroot is building this transportation service around its Vikram family of rockets. The company develops rocket engines, propulsion systems, structures and other launch technology from its facilities in Hyderabad. It was founded in 2018 by former space scientists Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka. In 2022, Skyroot's Vikram-S became India's first privately developed rocket to reach space. The company has since been developing larger orbital rockets, including Vikram-1, for commercial satellite launches. By 2026, Skyroot said it had a team of more than 1,000 people and had raised about $160 million.
