Solar Industries India was founded in 1995 by Satyanarayan Nandlal Nuwal as a manufacturer of packaged explosives. Nuwal had already spent years trading and distributing explosives before moving into manufacturing. The company initially served mining and infrastructure customers that use explosives for activities such as coal mining, quarrying and construction. It gradually expanded into bulk explosives, detonators, initiating systems and related products and built manufacturing operations in India and overseas markets. Solar later entered defence manufacturing through its subsidiary Economic Explosives and other group businesses. Its defence portfolio includes high-energy materials, propellants, warheads, rocket systems and ammunition-related products. This expansion has transformed Solar from mainly an industrial-explosives producer into a diversified explosives and defence-manufacturing company serving both commercial customers and government defence programmes.
