Swiggy at a glance
Swiggy started as a food-delivery marketplace. Restaurants list their menus on Swiggy, customers order through the app, and Swiggy's delivery network carries the food from the restaurant to the customer. This model lets restaurants reach online customers without building their own delivery fleet. Swiggy later used the same logistics and technology infrastructure to enter other businesses. Instamart sells groceries and everyday products from nearby dark stores, while Dineout helps customers discover restaurants and access dining offers. Swiggy was launched in 2014 by Sriharsha Majety, Nandan Reddy and Rahul Jaimini. Its food-delivery network has grown to include hundreds of thousands of restaurant partners across hundreds of Indian cities, turning Swiggy from a food-delivery app into a broader local-commerce platform.
