Simple Energy was started in Bengaluru in 2019 around an idea developed by Suhas Rajkumar, who is consistently identified as the company's founder. Shreshth Mishra subsequently joined as co-founder and became part of the early leadership team. Simple Energy develops electric scooters and important components such as battery packs, motors and vehicle-control systems. Its first major product was the Simple One electric scooter, followed by additional models based on the same electric-vehicle technology platform. The company has built manufacturing capacity in Tamil Nadu and sells vehicles through its own retail and distribution network. It aims to control more of the engineering and manufacturing process than brands that mainly assemble outsourced parts. The business therefore combines electric vehicle design, battery technology, manufacturing, software and branded retail.
