Harsh Jain

Harsh Jain is a co-founder, whole-time director and chief operating officer of Groww. He leads important parts of the company’s business and growth operations.

Journey

Jain studied electrical engineering and information and communication engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He later studied management at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, with a focus on product management and marketing.

Before Groww, Jain co-founded a storytelling start-up. The venture did not become his long-term business, but it gave him early experience in creating a product and working directly with users. He later joined Flipkart’s product-management team, where he worked alongside people who would eventually become his Groww co-founders.

In 2016, Jain, Lalit Keshre, Neeraj Singh and Ishan Bansal left Flipkart to address a problem they had observed among friends and other potential investors: financial products were difficult to understand and the process of starting an investment felt complicated. They built Groww as a simple, digital-first platform, beginning with direct mutual funds and later adding stocks and other financial products.

Jain’s responsibilities developed around growth and business execution. As Groww expanded, this included moving beyond its original mutual-fund product into broking, commodities, margin trading, bonds, lending and a separate wealth platform. Groww’s parent listed in India in 2025, making operating discipline and public-company governance a larger part of the founders’ work.

Working approach

Jain’s public comments and Groww’s company material emphasise customer-led product decisions, clear pricing and building trust before pushing additional products. His operating role requires balancing that approach with revenue diversification.

Assessment

Jain has helped convert Groww’s simple investing proposition into a multi-product financial-services business. His main challenge is to expand the business without allowing growth targets to weaken the clarity and trust on which the original platform was built.
