Lalit Keshre

Lalit Keshre is a co-founder, whole-time director and chief executive officer of Groww, the investment platform operated by Billionbrains Garage Ventures Limited.

Journey

Keshre studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Early in his career, he worked at technology company Ittiam Systems. He later started Eduflix, an online learning venture. The business did not develop as planned, and Keshre returned the remaining capital to investors before moving on.

He subsequently joined Flipkart, where he worked in senior product roles. His work included helping launch Flipkart Marketplace and leading Flipkart Quick. This experience gave him exposure to building simple digital products for a large consumer base and to the operational discipline required at scale.

In 2016, Keshre left Flipkart with colleagues Harsh Jain, Neeraj Singh and Ishan Bansal. They believed investing in India was needlessly difficult for ordinary users and that financial products were often presented through complex language and sales-led processes. The four founded Groww and initially focused on direct mutual funds. The platform later expanded into stocks, exchange-traded funds, derivatives, commodities, bonds, lending and wealth-management products.

As CEO, Keshre has focused mainly on product and customer experience. Groww’s public material describes simplicity, transparency and user trust as the core of its approach. The company listed on the Indian stock exchanges in 2025.

Working approach

Keshre’s earlier venture appears to have shaped a measured approach to capital and product-market fit. At Groww, he has argued for solving basic customer problems clearly rather than adding complexity for its own sake.

Assessment

His strongest contribution is the consistent translation of difficult financial processes into a consumer product. The continuing test is whether Groww can protect trust and product clarity while expanding into more complex and potentially higher-risk financial services.
